Create the Life You Want
Clarifying where you want to get to
“Life is what happens, when you are busy making other plans.”
Very often, individuals get so caught up with the pursuit of topical goals that they lose sight of the real purpose behind their actions. What is your mission in life – to be successful or to make a significant contribution? Earn more money or be happier? What’s the role of the family and friends in your life? Environment and community? If you could have your dream life, what would that be like?
Understanding where you are
Self-awareness can be a great start in the journey to becoming more effective. Observing and understanding your mind, behavior patterns and emotional habits can be very revealing. Measuring your level of happiness and reflecting on it can be insightful too. Knowing your beliefs, values and what is truly important to you can help build a deeper understanding of your current reality.
Becoming aware of the possibilities
Human brains like to work with certain maps that allow them to simplify the environment and be able to effectively perceive what’s around. While it would be rather challenging to navigate life without these maps, it’s important to recognize that these maps are not the reality. A willingness to look at new maps (or beliefs or habits) can allow you to move forward.
